Fun with Ducts
As part of a larger project to build a retro gaming lounge in my basement, I decided to liven up the ductwork and make it part of the fun-dustrial aesthetic. The paintjob not only looks totally boss, it also serves a practical use as a reference — all outgoing ducts are painted orange, and all the returns are yellow! With the rest of the paint I painted some drain pipes and made a simple mural to transition between two wall colors.

Ducts

More ducts

Even more ducts

Decided to add a transition between two colors on one wall. First drew this sketch to make sure this wasn't a completely ridiculous idea.

More sketches and a grid for reference

Marked out the grid on the wall and used some handy objects to draw the curves. Eventually settled on a hi-hat cymbal and an air hockey puck.

Finished painting the first coat around the transition

Yellow's done. I'm starting to like it!

And there's the orange

The finished product in all its glory

Might as well use up the paint!

Even the laundry room is getting some color.
